Adequate fluid intake is the foundation of training performance. A sports bottle helps you keep your hydration in check at the gym, on a run, or at the office. Modern sports bottles are made from BPA-free materials, leave no taste or odor in the water, and their one-hand-open caps are ideal for active use.
Tritan plastic is the most popular choice - it is lightweight, durable, BPA-free, and leaves no taste in the water. Stainless steel bottles are great for keeping drinks cold for a long time. Glass bottles have the most neutral taste but weigh more and are more prone to breaking.
It is recommended to drink 150-250 ml of water every 15-20 minutes during training. During intense workouts, add electrolytes to water to replenish minerals lost through sweat. Drink 500 ml of water 2 hours before training and after training replenish fluids until your urine is light-colored.
Wash the bottle daily with warm water and dish soap using a bottle brush. Pay special attention to the cap and seal area where bacteria accumulate. Once a week, soak the bottle in baking soda (1 tbsp per 500 ml) for 30 minutes. Do not leave drinks in the bottle overnight.
Plastic bottles are not suitable for hot drinks, as high temperatures can damage the material. For hot drinks, use a stainless steel thermos bottle that keeps drinks warm for up to 12 hours. Thermos bottles also work for cold drinks and keep them cool for up to 24 hours.
